Usage Instructions

Unfolding the Wheelchair

Hold both handles and pull them slightly apart to begin opening the frame. Using your palms, press down firmly on both sides of the seat upholstery until the seat is flat and the frame is fully locked in the open position.

Folding the Wheelchair

First, flip both footplates upward into a vertical position. Grasp the center of the seat upholstery at the front and back, then lift upward until the wheelchair is completely folded.

Adjusting the footplates

  • Loosen the locknut using the provided spanner (wrench).

  • Slide the extension tube to the desired height to ensure a proper ergonomic position for the user.

  • Tighten the bolts securely with the spanner in a clockwise direction to fix the position.

Using the brakes

When the wheelchair is at a complete stop, grasp the brake handles on both sides. Push the handles forward until they click into the self-locking position. This engages the locks to prevent the rear wheels from rotating.

Adjusting the armrests

To modify the armrest height, press the release button located on the outside of the armrest frame. Move the armrest to your desired height and release the button, ensuring it clicks into place.

Operating the legrests

  • Assembly: Align the positioning holes on the legrest with the fixed pins on the frame. Hang the legrest onto the pins and swing it inward until it locks into place.

  • Detachment: Pull the release lever and swing the legrest outward. Lift it upward to remove it from the fixed pins.

Adjusting the axle

To adjust the rear axle, first remove the quick-release wheels. Use a wrench to unscrew the axle nut. Once loosened, you can adjust the height of the axle plate or rotate it to shift the wheelchair's center of gravity.

Important: Both axle plates must be secured in the exact same position before operating the chair.

Safety Guidelines

Stability and Center of Gravity

The Coyote is designed for maximum stability during normal daily activities. However, caution must be exercised during movements that shift your center of gravity:

  • Avoid Overreaching: Never reach so far that you are required to shift your weight in the seat or lean out of the chair.

  • Caster Alignment: When reaching for objects, ensure the front casters are rotated forward. This extends the wheelbase and provides a more stable platform.

Ramps and Inclines

  • Professional Training: Consult a qualified healthcare professional for training on correct ramp navigation techniques.

  • Incline Limits: Never use the Coyote wheelchair on an incline steeper than 4.8°.

  • Movement: If you stop on an incline, resume movement smoothly. Avoid sudden or abrupt motions, as backward angling can cause the chair to tip.

  • Braking: Do not attempt to use the wheel locks while moving on an incline; this may cause accidental tipping or sudden, dangerous stops.

  • Direction: Maintain a straight path when descending; changing direction on a slope significantly increases the risk of instability.

Maintenance and Care

To ensure the longevity of your Coyote wheelchair and prevent corrosion, follow these care instructions:

  • Moisture Control: Always dry the wheelchair thoroughly if it becomes wet.

  • Cleaning: Regularly wash the frame and upholstery with warm water and a mild detergent.

  • Storage: Ensure the chair is dry before folding it for long-term storage.
